Judy The Beauty LOVES Opus

You’ve seen him outside our door, on our walls, next to the cash register. You may have seen him in the Sunday funny papers, as the star of “Bloom County.” He is Opus, my favorite pet character.

Opus is actually an example of the species OPII BIGGUS SHNOZOLUS, or “The Common Hefty-nosed Penguin.” Now do you see what attribute we share?

Opus (Penguin Lust) and small sitting Opus

I’ve collected Opus in many forms — I have an Opus phone, an Opus costume, an Opus t-shirt, and books galore. But I’ve learned that the “stuffed” version has magical powers, spreading good luck and good cheer to all he encounters.

So I collect these gems, and I give them away to spread the magic far and wide. And here’s where you come in …

Bring me an Opus this month — and I’ll buy you a meal. That’s right — you give me an Opus, and I’ll give you breakfast or lunch, or even a dinner.

Some connections last through long absence and great distance. Apparently our friendship is one of those! I’m looking out my window at 6 inches of snow this Christmas Eve day, and thinking of a big, delicious breakfast at The Big Kitchen and the laughter and smiles of an old and dear friend. (and maybe a hug or two)
Much love to the real BEAUTY!

In 1981,I felt that as long as there was a Big Kitchen, and a Judy, I had a place to be in the world. It’s 2007, nearly 2008 and I still have the Big Kitchen and my dear friend, “The Beauty”.
Love and beauty to all who enter the restaurant.
